If one visits the link for the 315th Bomb Wing Association from the left frame on the 315th Bomb Wing website, you will note three bullets with a thumbnail history of the association, notes on musuems with a 315th connection and a listing of the locations where the association has held reunions since its' beginning.
One of the bullet items outlines a desire of the 2nd generation of the veterans to continue honoring those of the "greatest generation," and our own personal heros, by hosting a reunion for them each year. Approximately 50 people of the 2nd generation (and beyond) signed up at the last association reunion in Washington, DC, expressing a desire to continue reunions. Only a handful of these signers have stepped up to make this a reality. Mike Berdan, with a close working relationship with Jack Nakel, have been the leaders in getting reunions organized. Of the 2nd generation and beyond attendees in New Orleans, 11 were of the 50 "original signers" that had indicated in Washington, DC a desire to continue supporting the veterans through reunions.
Through this web page and perhaps word of mouth, we seem to gather one or two new members to our Yahoo Group mail list. Some of these new people express an interest in attending a reunion.
Please see the following, especially where Mike indicates a desire for discussion on whether or not we should join with the 73rd Bomb Wing or not.
Your input is valued. Please join the 315th Bomb Wing Yahoo Group and provide your input.
