Project Report #5, Undated.
This is a report on the AN/APQ-7 project and actions taken on testing the Eagle radar on B-24's from the 15th Air Force. The 15th Air Force flew from Italy during this time frame. From the text of the report it would appear it was generated in May 1945. I copied this article from the microfilm archive at the Air Force Historical Research Agency in Maxwell AFB, AL. I retyped it and trying to keep the original format edited it for the web.
Whitts Flying webpage.
In addition to "information that every pilot should know," the creator of this site has also made copies of pages from a WWII publication, RADAR. This magazine was "published with the technical and editorial assistance of the Office of Scientific Reaserch and Development through the Radiation Laboratory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and under the official direction of The Air Communications Officer, Brig. Gen. H.M. McClelland." The link will take you directly to the index of articles from several different isses of the magazine.
Some of the links on the webpage don't work as advertised, especially the link at the bottom of each page that takes you to the next page, but with some perserverance and clicking back and forth, you can get to see the entire articles.
I have tried to contact the owner of the site for permission to extract the pages of interest to those researching the 315th; i.e.; articles on the APQ-7 (article 10) and APG-15 (article 31), but to date I have had no success.
If you would like to visit the flying information part of the website, follow this link, Back to Whitts Flying, also found at the top of the Radar Index page.
The data found on this page comes from sources in the public domain. However, it took a lot of time to format it for the internet. If you choose to use this information, be kind, give credit to your sources. Thanks.
